Hide & Seek Review

A film starring a bunch of newcomers, headed by a debutante director might not sound so captivating to catch the viewers' attention. Moreover, when it is thriller, chances are that you hardly believe in a new director' s skills to handle the genre. Meanwhile, director Shawn Arranha surprises you with his first venture. Hide & Seek may not be one of the most fascinating thrillers you have witnessed, but it sure holds some unique jump-in-your-seat moments. Also, the suspense part of the film keeps you guessing till the end to find out who the offender is. This is in a way the winning side of the film.

However, on the down side, production of Hide & Seek could have been better. Writing and bad camera work is also on the flip side.

To start with, Hide & Seek, on the lines of I Know What You Did Last Summer is a story of six friends Om, Jaideep, Abhi, Jyotika, Imran, and Gunita. None of them is aware that a small game played years back might come back to haunt their lives. When most of them had chosen to forget the night, someone with dark memories of the past still brings them back together and makes them play the game once again. Now, the six friends turn enemies, when they meet in a shopping mall.

As said above, Hide & Seek may not be the best thriller you have watched, but if do not use your brain a lot, you might love the film more. There are some sub plots which are unconvincing like how a person kidnaps his friends in one night on his own without anyone' s help. If you sideline some flaws, the proceedings of the film are interesting.

Meanwhile, as the film goes back and forth, you might take time to get used to the narrative. At times, you may wonder what the director is trying to show. However, you will get answers to most of your queries in the second part of the film. Well there might be chance that the end will confuse you too.

Considering the film as his first venture, Shawn Arranha has done credible work, except the climax which could have been different. Talking about performances by the lead stars, actors Purab Kohli, Arjan Bajwa and Sameer Kochar have done a fabulous job. Ayaz Khan, Mrinalini Sharma and Amruta Patki also had given decent performances.

On a final note, HIDE & SEEK is an entertaining suspense that keeps you engaged till end. It may not be a super duper hit, but surely deserves one watch, especially because of the performances by the promising actors like Purab Kohli and Arjan Bajwa.
