Chance Pe Dance is a story of an aspirant who wishes to make it big in the film industry. It' s a story about his struggle, never die attitude and his triumph.

Earlier many films used the same subject - struggle of an aspirant. Like Naach and Zoya Akhtar' s Luck By Chance last year. But Chance Pe Dance failed to depict the usual story with a zing. First off all let me you tell that there is no resemblance to films like Step Up (2006) or Ram Gopal Varma' s Naach (except the thing that the male lead ' s desire to become actor and female lead being choreographer). However, it has some similarities with Jack Black' s School Of Rock (2003).

What takes down CPD is its bad script. The writing of the film is tacky and uninteresting. As it is a story of an aspirant, you should feel for the protagonist, but that doesn' t happen. The protagonist looks lifeless in the film, as you don' t feel sad when he loses or wins at the end. The story is very predictable, but that is not the actual problem. CPD is not narrated in interesting way.

Now days there are number of reality dance shows running on every other television channel and sadly, you will find much more enthusiasm, excitement and drama on those shows than in CPD. Clearly, the film lacks in direction and writing. However, Shahid Kapoor has given sincere performance.

To start with, the film, Chance Pe Dance is a story of a boy Sameer (Shahid Kapoor) who is gifted with a talent and is very passionate . He keeps on tossing with various jobs, while trying to achieve his only dream to get break on silver screen. During the journey of his success, he goes through lot of difficulties, disappointments and hopes. But, Sameer crosses all the hurdles with the never-say-die attitude.

In the way, he gets help from a spirited choreographer Tina (Genelia D' Souza) and eventually, he gets his one big chance in life.

However as sad earlier, what bogs down CPD, is bad writing. Today when every filmmaker is trying a new or fresh story Ken Ghosh has gone the old route, tried the tested stuff and eventually lost the chance. Also, there are many scenes, which are not convincing like the track of dance teacher, or father of protagonist encouraging him to achieve his dream. Even the Mohnish Bahl track is unbelievable, as he first gives chance to Shahid, then throws him out and later says that he always knew that there was star in Shahid. The climax too is tame.

The director has handled few scenes beautifully, like the one at the interval when Shahid with broken heart finds peace in his students. The only top honor of the film is performance of Shahid. With every new film, he is raising the bar. Dance numbers given by him are exceptional. But even a good actor can' t save a bad script. Genelia D' Souza looks cute and has given some pleasant moments in the film. Music by Adnan Sami is strictly ok. A film whose soul is dance, must have hit numbers, but we can' t find those in CPD. However, Ahmed Khan and Marty Kudelka' s choreography is another good part of the film.

The only thing you carry home from CPD is cool dance by Shahid. Conclusively, the director has missed the chance.
