Those who thought Paa will be a copy of THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON starring Brad Pitt or JACK are completely wrong, as R. Balki' s film is completely different. It' s an emotional experience for every paa and maa. After ' Cheeni Kum' , Balki has experimented a new thing very beautifully one more time. This time his film has turn out more effectively with the right cast in the forms of ABs (Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan) and VB (Vidya Balan).

Just 10 minutes and you drive into the emotional drama of Paa. Introduction of Big B' s character Auro is amazing. Auro is a 13-year old boy suffering with rare genetic defect progeria, which causes faster ageing. He is 13-year-old mentally, but looks five times older physically.

However, with all those defects he is a happy boy, who lives with mother Vidya [Vidya Balan], a gynaecologist. However, he is not aware of his father Amol' s [Abhishek Bachchan] identity, who is a politician.

The first half of the film holds you in bits and pieces. Of course, there are some exciting moments but their effect is not so strong. However, the second half of the film holds tremendous emotional quotient. The father-son bonding and the last 25 minutes will make you burst into tears.

Although the promos of the film focus on the father-son bonding, it also displays strong emotional bonding between Auro and - his mother, granny and his best friend. The moments of Auro' s conversation with his best friend are superb. Do not mistaken Paa as a rona-dhona film. In fact, there are many funny and light moments in it.

Talking about performances, the film will not be so effective without the powerful performances by Amitabh, Abhishek and Vidya. No words to explain Amitabh Bachchan’s performance. He is such an icon who keeps you surprised with each role. Although we have seen him performing great roles, Auro is something different. Also hats off to junior Bachchan and Vidya Balan. Although it is a film of Big B' s performance, it has not casted off Abhishek and Vidya. They played their role equally well. No doubt, acting is in the genes of Bachchans; however, Vidya proved that she was the right cast for the role.

Writing could have been better, but the emotional moments of the film are outstanding. Balki deserves appreciation and will be taken seriously after Paa. Ilaiyaraaja' s music is pleasant. Cinematography by P.C. Sreeram is superb. Don' t forget makeup artists Christien Tinsley and Domini Till, who have molded the 6 feet actor into a kid. Performances by Paresh Rawal, Arundhati Naag and the kid Pratik are also amazing.

Conclusively, don' t miss Paa for a fresh story and great performances by its lead actors.
