London Dreams Review, Movie Review of London Dreams

London Dreams is about two thick pals Arjun (Ajay Devgn) and Mannu (Salman Khan). Both of them have passion for music. Although they are good friends, they have very less in common except their family' s connection to music. They carry almost different nature like Arjun is ambitious and wants to make his passion big in London. In his childhood he runs away from his home, comes to London and forms a band with Wasim (Aditya Roy Kapur), Zoheb (Rannvijay Singh), and Priya (Asin, dancer). However, Mannu with no big ambition is a happy go lucky kind person who sings in wedding parties in Punjab and content with it.

One fine day Arjun invites Mannu to London to join his band. But Arjun is not aware that the same friend is going to become his rival in near future. Soon the naturally gifted Mannu becomes darling of the crowd. Arjun' s patience breaks when Mannu wins Priya' s heart too, to whom he also loves silently. So the devil in Arjun starts making sinister plans against Mannu to destroy him.

The first half of the film just sets up all the things, while the second half actually gets the grip. The film gets intense and real in the second half but what' s brings down the film is the climax. It is not at all convincing. Ajay' s outburst at the end of the concert looks very unreal. The writing could have been better. Music is also the downer side of the film. The film is about a band and the kind of music given by the musical trio Shankar-Ehsan-Loy doesn' t go well with the theme of the film.

But there have some sequences which will keep running in your mind even when you have left your sit of the theater. Like the scene where Salman makes four different tunes from Ajay' s original tune and also when the band attended by media persons with their arrival in London after a three city concerts. The thing that Ajay comes to a land (London) completely unknown to him and forms a band without anyone' s support is not believable. Writing of the film could have been better; otherwise the execution of the film by Vipul is pretty well. Especially the concert thing is captured pretty well by Brownie. Cinematography by Sejal Shah is great. Also the background score by Salim-Sulaiman is up to international standards.

Performances by Salman and Ajay are the top honors of the film. Salman did full justice to his carefree and witty character. However very few people play the intense character with such intensity that Ajay did. Ajay, Salman complement each other very well in the film. Their appearance will make you remind of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. But this time Salman is winner taking away lady Asin with him. Asin' s pairing with Salman looked beautiful. After the film she might be referred as Chennai Express with which Salman is addressing her throughout the film.

On a whole you can go for London Dreams for powerful performances by your Bollywood darlings Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn and for some memorable sequences. The film will do well at multiplexes. It' s a call for metros, while the story will be different for mini-metros and towns.
