Yeh Dooriyan Review

Yeh Dooriyan is the directorial debut of Deepshikha Nagpal. Remember Deepshikha? She has so far played only small roles in big films. Her most famous role would be of Salman Khan' s sister in Partner. Yes she is Deepshikha and she has attempted to make a film. Yeh Dooriyan has been released without any promotion or hype. May be no one is expecting anything good from this film. Let' s see if this holds true or no.

Simi Nagpal (Deepshikha) is a career woman. She divorces her husband and has custody of the kids. Everything seems rosy but deep inside, Simi yearns for companionship and wants to fall in love and get married once again. On a holiday with two of her colleagues ( Delnaz Paul and Chitrashi Raawat), she meets a young model named Raj (Kaishav Arrora) who falls for her. He even joins her dance academy and strikes up a friendship with her. Soon friendship turns to love. However, the two of them are caught by Raj' s mother (Kunika) and she admonishes him for having a relation with an older woman. Soon Raj starts distancing himself from Simi and disappears.

Meanwhile, Simi' s ex-husband Aditya (Inder Kumar) returns and wants Simi back in his life. She tries his best to get her back but Simi is still in love with Raj, but Raj is nowhere to be found. What happens next? Will she find Raj or will she return to her ex-husband, the father of her children?

Horrendous is the word that comes to my mind. This story might have some appeal in these modern times, but Deepshikha has made a complete mess of it. She has written the story herself and it is partly based on her life. The screenplay is bad. It is like watching cliché after cliché. The dialogues are no different. They look like they have been written by a small kid. Not anyone can be a writer and Deepshikha has proved this fact.

Coming to direction, Deepshikha' s direction needs direction. The scenes are poorly shot and terribly clichéd. They are also technically poor and look more like a television serial. Neither has she been able get good performances out any of the actors. Even the usually good Delnaz Paul and Inder Kumar do a bad job in the acting department. Deepshikha really needs to learn the technical aspects of being a director, there is lot more to direction than just yelling action and cut.

The performances are as bad as they get. Kaishav Arrora is one the worst actors by far. He is unable to deliver a single expression and is stony faced throughout the film. Deepshikha is okay, but the dialogues are so bad that no one notices her acting. Inder Kumar and Delnaz Paul are no different and give their worst performances till date. There is no saving grace in the acting department.

The cinematography is bad. The shots are poorly executed and other technical aspects of the film like lighting are also not good. The editing is strictly okay. The music is fine but could have been better.

The production value is bad, like mentioned above; the film looks more like a TV serial. The producer is set to lose big time on this film as it will surely sink without a trace. Hopefully, Deepshikha will not pick up the megaphone again before at least learning a few technicalities about filmmaking.

Verdict: Yeh Dooriyan will find no audience as they will stay ' door' from the theatre.
